Position Description
EnCompass LLC is currently seeking a Senior Learning Specialist for Leadership Development to provide technical expertise and innovative approaches to EnCompass’ leadership and coaching programs. The Senior Leadership Specialist will design, develop, deliver and evaluate leadership development courses, learning events, and coaching activities that that foster continuous improvement and innovation in professional and organizational development. Emphasis is on behavior change and soft skills development, as well as an ability to integrate learning into the broader issues of individual and organizational performance.

The position is based at the EnCompass Headquarters offices in Rockville, MD.

Due to COVID-19, and subject to situational changes, the position is expected to be fully remote through June 2021. Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.

Position Duties And Responsibilities
Essential functions include:


Bring leading-edge thinking, methodologies and approaches to leadership, coaching, management development programs, and a range of EnCompass programs
Develop blended learning courses and speak knowledgably with clients about the value of blended learning to bring about a robust experience in leadership skill and behavior development
Provide guidance and support on leadership assessment tools such as 360-degree feedback, MBTI, StrengthsFinder, and others
Design curricula for face-to-face or virtual learning sessions using creative, innovative and evidence-based approaches; develop course content for e-learning programs
Develop dynamic, experiential learning session designs, including macro designs based on client content, micro designs and training scripts
Contribute leadership project and proposal designs for proposal development
Conduct needs assessments to determine the most effective learning activities and curriculum designs that align with organizational goals, strategies, and leadership competencies
Conduct leadership training sessions in face-to-face workshops or virtual learning platforms
Develop curricula and training courses in other technical areas as needed
Design and facilitate virtual sessions (webinars), group process, strategy or work process sessions
Work with subject-matter experts to develop integrated leadership and learning programs

Manage leadership and coaching contracts, including engagement with clients, prime contractors, and subcontractors
Manage teams of staff, consultants, and prime and sub-contractors
Manage budgets to ensure quality performance and fiscal responsibility
Recruit and supervise staff; recruit and manage consultants
Serve as a resource to Business Development teams by contributing to proposal development processes to include developing level of effort (LOE) estimates and writing technical approaches
Contribute to expansion of the Global leadership and Coaching Consultant Network

Engage fully as a member of the EnCompass staff team, including participating in staff meetings and other EnCompass activities
Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and eight years’ experience; or a Master’s degree and six years’ experience; or a PhD and four years’ experience. Degree in Leadership, Coaching, Organizational Development, Curriculum Design, Instructional Design, International Development or other related fields; International Coaching Federation (ICF) certification preferred.
Experience and Skills

Minimum of 6 years’ experience in designing and facilitating interactive leadership and development experiences and designing curricula based on experiential, adult-centered learning, and using blended learning and innovative technologies
Expertise in leadership and management development theory and practice
Expertise in professional leading communities of practice for professional coaching programs
Expertise in various assessment tools including 360-degree assessments, StrengthsFinder, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) among others
Experience in field of international development, working in cross-cultural environments
Knowledge of the principles of learning including adult learning, learning styles, participatory methods, instructional design, Appreciative Inquiry, whole systems design, e-learning and related topics
Knowledge of leadership frameworks, behaviors, developmental activities and approaches
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously and deliver quality, client-focused results on time and within budget
Demonstrated experience managing and supervising consultants, staff, and teams
Ability to work in an appreciative, strengths-based environment, and to use strengths-based tools with clients
Strong planning, organization, and strategic thinking skills
Ability to work effectively across cultures and excel in multi-cultural environments
Ability to build effective working relations with clients and colleagues; strong interpersonal skills
Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills with a dynamic, engaging facilitation style
Flexibility and ability to travel internationally or domestically for varying lengths of time
Skilled in word processing, spreadsheets (Excel), and web-based programs
Past experience working with United Nations agencies, USAID, and other international organizations preferred
Leadership coaching experience preferred
Fluency in language(s) other than English and experience working or living overseas preferred
